Hello everyone.

This is the newsletter between the month of October and November.

The plan for the boys.

In this month we have been trying to work on the family reunions we successfully invited all the parent to come so as to pass an agreement of commitment between dagortti4kids and them.

Most of them turned up and the results were as follows:

  1. Michael Wainaina: the most successful boy that we have in the organization, he just sat for his primary school examination. he other was very appreciative for all that we have done. He will be staying with his grandmother, but mean while we have given him responsibilities in the center to help us in everyday operations.
  2. David Njenga: he also sat for his examination he will be joining secondary school next year but at the moment he also takes responsibility in the centre.
  3. Roman Kimani: The mother is married to a man who is no the biological father to Roman, he cant accept the boy Roman to b his son ,alternatively Roman is staying with an auntie .he was also enrolled to a boarding school next year and we will be having timewith his family only when he comes home.
  4. Charles Maina and John Wainaina: Both are brothers ,the mother never came but they have a responsible brother who is unemployed the two boys have as well been enrolled to boarding school near their home town. In this way they shall be closer to their relatives.
  5. David Ngugi: the mother came though in the recent past the by never had any trust with her, they are staying together at the moment but with close supervision.
  6. James Njoroge: the mom is totally irresponsible at work in a drinking den ,the boy loves the mother so much, he is always in their house helping the little kid who always has no one to take care of. he will be going to boarding school because we fear if he continues be with the mom too much time he can easily give up school.
  7. Peter Chege: He continues to live with his father, but we still follow up because his step mother can't accept him.

Sponsors:

So far we have been having some good support especially in school sponsorship the following are the boys who have been sponsored:

  1. Roman Kimani .Wayne brown from Canada, he pledges to continue sending more money to put him in Arch Bishop Ndingi boarding school.
  2. Charles Maina and John Wainaina: Mr. and Mrs. Diana Yorath from the UK, they are putting 40 pounds into a UK account very month.
  3. Samuel Mungai: Bridget Maher from the UK is sponsoring him with a budget of 30 dollars per month.
  4. Hezron Kinuthia:Tora Katinka from Norway.
  5. Ezekiel Mbugua: Scott and Mary from Connecticut USA.

The above are the only kids that we have their money already with us.

Remember Mike? He has been accepted to St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia and needs your help!

Michael Nyambura, once a homeless teenager who helped me win the trust of the street children and film their stories, has earned provisional admission to St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

I first met Mike next to the slaughterhouse at the Dagoretti Market outside Nairobi in the summer of 2000 after he had been forced to drop out of school and found himself homeless. He worked tirelessly as my translator and guide and submitted to extensive interviews about HIV and life on the streets. Students from Connecticut College helped raise money to send Mike back to school where he later ranked third in his class.

After seeing Left Behind on campus, two students at St. Joe's U. traveled to Nairobi to volunteer helping AIDS orphans and sought out Mike. They encouraged him to apply to college in the United States, and when they returned to campus, helped persuade the university to give him a chance. Mike has been granted provisional acceptance and a scholarship at St. Joe's, and his supporters are raising money for transportation, books and other costs he will face as a student in America.

Viewers who would like to help Mike take advantage of this amazing opportunity can contact Mark Orrs at admissions who is setting up Mike's fund. Mark can be reached at: mo008317@mailhost.sju.edu.
