Greetings from Kenya

Rainy season is here we are grateful to God after a long dry spell, which had led to shortage of food in many parts of the country.
In rural Kenya most people depend with small scale farming and livestock keeping, all this was almost dying because of unpredictable rain season.
Now we are grateful for the change we can see our fields turning green.

Its now the sixth year serving with children who are orphaned and vulnerable in our society ,our main focus being on the streets we have seen many changing while others drugging behind but everyday with love we never cease to give another chance

Today we are proud to see young boys teenagers embracing and loving the concept of getting education, dagoretti4kids has therefore continued to focus in education as our main goal.

Last year was a huge success to have four boys graduate from primary schools where three of the scored above average marks
Allan and Hezron got a chance to join a provincial school which means the institution is government run and they have good chances to get selected to public universities if the get good grades in high school

Samuel and Charles also got a chance with district school though Charles had much better grades, but chances to get good high schools were very competitive

I total we have six boys in high school where one of them Michael Wainaina will be graduating the end of this year

Down to primary schools we are still holding the option of primary boarding schools, with the reason being that kids can have the best environment to study without destructions from their backgrounds .most of them come from abusive backgrounds, rejected or no family at all .it also creates space for other kids to join us in the house
We have 9 boys in two different primary boarding schools.

This year three of them will be graduating again and they are the best academically from all the boys we have had in our program
Benjamin Patrick and roman

At the centre we have 8 who are going to regular schools around .our day to day task is to also approach different methods to connect wit their families or relatives, in most cases it turns to be very hard especially from the kids.

We are also happy to have Margaret Muthoni in medical school she comes from the village as well her mother is the mother to all the boys that we have ,she is always there to guide and assist as well praying the motherly role to all of us

Fred Ngesa will be joining a motor vehicle mechanics school any time we manage to raise his support

Within our team we have three house uncles Gerald Daniel and Simon .Gerald has been part of us throughout his high school education
Out of the rent we pay to the land lady .she sponsored his education for four years
Today he is the man responsible with procurements in dagoretti4kids.
Daniel a young dynamic man comes from the neighborhood, he relates with the community especially making sure that dagoreti4kids is part of the immediate community.
This give a sense of love and belonging to the kids we have as well as motivate us

Simon take care of physiological support to the boys in the program he is also in charge of programs and activities that run everyday

We thanks everyone for your continued support and prayers ,it is our hope that we shall all continue to be committed towards making a difference in the lives of young people in our society

With the upsurge of living cost from the last couple of months we are still in need to raise more supporters to assist both financially and even welcome to volunteer with us

These are our needs every month

Remember Mike? He has been accepted to St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia and needs your help!

Michael Nyambura, once a homeless teenager who helped me win the trust of the street children and film their stories, has earned provisional admission to St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

I first met Mike next to the slaughterhouse at the Dagoretti Market outside Nairobi in the summer of 2000 after he had been forced to drop out of school and found himself homeless. He worked tirelessly as my translator and guide and submitted to extensive interviews about HIV and life on the streets. Students from Connecticut College helped raise money to send Mike back to school where he later ranked third in his class.

After seeing Left Behind on campus, two students at St. Joe's U. traveled to Nairobi to volunteer helping AIDS orphans and sought out Mike. They encouraged him to apply to college in the United States, and when they returned to campus, helped persuade the university to give him a chance. Mike has been granted provisional acceptance and a scholarship at St. Joe's, and his supporters are raising money for transportation, books and other costs he will face as a student in America.

Viewers who would like to help Mike take advantage of this amazing opportunity can contact Mark Orrs at admissions who is setting up Mike's fund. Mark can be reached at: mo008317@mailhost.sju.edu.
